Who can get a scholarship?

Who can get a scholarship?, can I get a scholarship? These questions may arise in our heads at different stages of life. The answer is simple: scholarships are not only for pupils and students! If you are wondering whether you can apply for a scholarship, for whom scholarships are awarded in Poland and around the world, and how to look for them – this article will answer your questions!

It’s worth noting that many redirections in this article lead to the Polish version of the website. In this version called Moje Stypendium we have a powerful, but simple and intuitive search engine for Polish scholarships. If you have trouble understanding Polish language we recommend using the search engine with the google translator plugin. That way you can also read our articles! If that’s not working for you just contact us at serwis@ausemojestypendium.org or on Instagram. Tell us whether you are a student and/or what is your area of passion (as we said above scholarships are not only for students though). We will try to find a scholarship suited for you! Whatever you do don’t give up because Poland offers many growth opportunities!

Another important piece of information: most scholarships appearing on our website are not from the state budget. The scholarships in our base are mostly offered by foundations, local governments and companies. There are a lot of them, we map so you don’t have to 🙂 Every week our database evolves and we add new offers, so make sure to check our website regularly!

Who can get a scholarship and what kind?

First: what scholarships do we distinguish? In one of our previous articles, we wrote generally about what a scholarship is. What are their types?

Well, in the “Scholarship Map III” study, we distinguished the following scholarships:

  • scientific,
  • sport/athletic,
  • artistic,
  • social,
  • musical,
  • as well as hybrid programs, e.g. science-art-sports.

This is also reflected on the Polish version of our My Scholarship portal! In the national scholarship search engine, you can select artistic, scientific, social, sports and other programs in the legend on the left. Sometimes it happens that the program is unconventional or unusual (due to the criteria or audience) – then we assign it to the “other” category.

Why distinguishing scholarship types is so important? Because it determines who can receive them. Some of them (especially scientific ones) are related to a specific stage of education, e.g. scholarships for pupils, students, PhD students. Some scholarships are based on academic results. Others concern, for example, people of a certain age who have sports or artistic achievements and talents.

In the thicket of regulations and programs (and we map hundreds of them every year!) it is sometimes easy to get lost. Below we suggest what scholarships there are for specific groups of recipients.

Scholarships for young students

First, important information for students, their guardians, and teachers. Most social scholarship programs in Poland are dedicated to young students in primary schools or high schools!

If that concerns you or your child open our search engine and take a look at the wide range of scholarships for young students – both current and archived announcements. Thanks to this, you will learn about several hundred programs – local and national, with various profiles and criteria. Nothing left to do but search and apply! 🙂

Scholarships for students

Secondly, let’s not forget about students – as we wrote above, this is a group to which Polish scholarship programs are often dedicated.  We provide a free, friendly database of scholarships for students – there you will find both current applications and archived ones (and most applications are repeated periodically!).

In addition, we provide a free, friendly database of scholarships for students – you will find there both current applications and archived ones (and most applications are repeated periodically!).

Scholarship programs for high school graduates who want to continue their education at university play a particularly important role. Be sure to check out, among others: the nationwide Bridge Scholarship program (Stypendia Pomostowe).

Scholarships for young scientists

Thirdly, some people decide to continue their scientific path – e.g. in doctoral studies. Are there scholarships for them too? Yes! And these are not only scholarships from the state budget.

In addition, we have something for people pursuing doctoral studies or pursuing a post-doctoral research career path in Poland or abroad. We map interesting doctoral scholarship programs: domestic and foreign. There’s plenty to choose from! The author of this article used several of them and highly recommends them. 🙂 It’s important to know that a doctoral scholarship at a university is not the only scholarship support you can apply for.

Scholarships for talented people in sports

Fourthly, there must be scholarships for sports talents who achieve great results in various sports disciplines. In Poland, you can find plenty of those!

We regularly map and publish announcements about sports scholarship programs on the Polish version of our website. Be sure to also take a look at archived announcements of sports scholarships, as applications can often be submitted twice a year.

Interestingly, the organizers of sports scholarships are most often local government units. Therefore, be sure to check whether in your commune/county/city there is a support program for talented people in sports! Moreover, sometimes local governments redistribute funds allocated for sports scholarships through sports clubs. Therefore, first, contact your home club.

Scholarships for artistically talented people

Fifthly, we do not forget about artistically talented people – artistic scholarships are also a common form of rewarding and supporting artists. We have also created a guide for you on how to get artistic scholarships.

Importantly, artistic scholarships are usually awarded by local governments, sometimes by foundations and associations. There are also government scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

We map most of the programs for artistically talented people on the Polish website every day: check out the list of current recruitments for artistic scholarships. Also check out archived announcements for artists, as many programs systematically open new editions.

Graduate scholarships

Sixth, we often receive questions about whether in Poland graduates can also apply for scholarships. Well, we don’t hide it – scholarship programs most often concern people associated with a certain stage of formal education. However, this is not 100% of the cases. More and more programs are being created in which the status of a student, student, or doctoral student is not a formal criterion. Check the scholarship search engine regularly to read about initiatives for graduates!

Scholarships for various age groups

To summarize, we have scholarships for people:

  • implementing a specific stage of education (pupils, students, PhD students…),
  • talented in various fields (who are also pupils/students or regardless of this status),
of a certain age, meeting additional criteria (achievements, talents, project idea, etc.).

Therefore, scholarships are worth looking for, regardless of the stage of education or age. Each program has its own regulations and description. Thanks to the free search engine on the Moje Stypendium portal, searching for programs tailored to your needs is quick, comprehensive, and friendly. Simply – use it! 🙂

Scholarships for everyone…? 🙂

We hope that thanks to the article you learned exactly who can get a scholarship. Or maybe you have found a program for yourself or a loved one? We keep our fingers crossed for this and we work to share reliable knowledge, popularize scholarships, and let you make your dreams come true! Because scholarships are an opportunity for development, recognition of talents and achievements, and motivation to act!
